Our History

Taylor Carpets and Flooring is a family and locally owned business that has been in the works in Utah County, UT, for over 150 years.

1866 - The Beginning

In 1866, George Taylor opened a general store on Center Street in Provo called Taylor Brothers. They sold furniture, flooring, and other household items. After George's retirement, his son, Thomas Nichols Taylor, nicknamed TNT, ran Taylor Brothers for many years. At one time, Taylor Brothers had locations in Provo, Spanish Fork, and Eureka.

After the manager of the Spanish Forks location, Albert Dixon, left to form Dixon Taylor Russell with one of the Taylor brothers, TNT's son Marion purchased the Spanish Forks location. He renamed it the MR Taylor CO, which he operated for many years.

1956 - From Generation to Generation

In 1956, Marion passed away, and his son, David Taylor, left the United States Air Force to come home and support his mother by running the shop as it is known today.

1986 - Today

After graduating from BYU in 1986, Matt Taylor started full-time in the business. In the early 2000s, Matt completed his purchase of the business and has been running it with his wife, Teri Taylor.
