About Us

Taylor Carpets is a locally owned business. Taylor flooring and furniture businesses have existed in Utah county for almost 150 years.

George Taylor opened a store in 1866 on Center Street in Provo that eventually sold furniture, flooring and many other items. His son, Thomas Taylor (nicknamed TNT) ran Taylor Brothers for many years. At one time Taylor Brothers had locations with branches in Provo, Spanish Fork, and Eureka. Marion Taylor took over the Spanish Fork branch of Taylor Brothers in 1920 after the manager, Albert Dixon, left to form Dixon Taylor Russell with another of the Taylor sons. Marion purchased the Spanish Fork location and re-named it MR Taylor Co. He operated that location for many years.

In 1956, Marion passed away and his son, David Taylor left the US Airforce to come home and run the store. His primary reason for doing this was to help his mother who needed the rent for support. In 1986, after graduating from BYU, Matt Taylor started full-time in the business. In the early 2000′s Matt completed his purchase of the business and has been running it with his wife Teri Taylor ever since.
